Brian was shocked when his blood test revealed he may have cancer, as he had been feeling fine.
Like many men, Brian had overlooked his health for a while, but decided to book an executive health screening at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for an overall check-up. The screening included a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, which revealed Brian had prostate cancer. After a successful minimally invasive surgery and radiation therapy, Brian quickly recovered and is maintaining a well-balanced life. He urges everyone to pay attention to their health and attend regular check-ups, even if they feel fit and well.
Brian says, “I had a drive to survive cancer, for my wife and five children. I urge everyone to take care of themselves. As we get older, regular check-ups are essential, even if you feel fit and well.”
Pre-screening and early detection of cancer is key. A simple blood test could save your life, or that of a loved one. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi recommends all men over the age of 40 years see a urologist regularly.
Liver disease refers to several conditions that can affect and damage your liver, such as non-alcohol fatty liver disease and hepatitis. If it isn’t treated, over time, liver disease can cause scarring(cirrhosis) and lead to serious complications. The risk of liver diseases can be reduced with lifestyle changes such as maintaining a healthy weight.
The Liver Disease Program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Digestive Disease Institute offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for the entire spectrum of liver diseases.
The program provides care for many liver diseases, including fatty liver disease, liver cancer, liver failure and offers liver transplant.
This incredible and heart-warming performance by young pianist, Rashed Al Marzooqi, is part of the Mawhibaty program run by the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Department of Knowledge and Education and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Arts for Health program, which aims to connect our patients and community with the healing powers of art.
Through his performance, Rashed showcased the transformative power of music, which has been found to have a positive impact on physical, emotional, and psychological health. By bringing music to the hospital setting, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is helping to create a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and enhances the overall patient experience. This event highlights the hospital's commitment to providing holistic, patient-centred care that goes beyond just treating physical symptoms.
